Writer's picture: ArtLabArtLab

Hey Hamilton Students and Parents!

Looking for a fun and creative way to spend some time together this long break? ArtLab has a special challenge that everyone can enjoy!

Start by watching the video below to learn about the legendary artist Edward Hopper and his iconic painting Nighthawks. Then, each person in the family can create their own unique parody of Nighthawks! Download the PDF templates and let your imagination run wild as you add your own personal touch to this iconic piece of art.

Once school is back in session, bring your individual masterpieces to ArtLab (be sure to write your name, grade, and classroom on the back). Each artwork will be part of a special Nighthawks display for the whole school to enjoy! We can't wait to see how each of you puts your own spin on this classic painting.

And, if you have a chance over the long weekend, be sure to visit the Art Institute of Chicago and see the original Nighthawks in person! We’re lucky to have this iconic piece of Hopper’s work right here in our city—don't miss the opportunity to experience it up close!
